Oberstdorf (816 m) is the most southern village in Germany. Because of its special climate, it has been a climatic health resort and recognized Kneipp spa resort since 1937 and was awarded with the Premium Class title in 2002. It is known for international sporting events such as the annual Four Hills Tournament, World Cup Ski Flying, Tour de Ski, ice sports events such as the Nebelhorn Trophy and was the venue of the Nordic Skiing World Championships in 2005. The village is surrounded with the unique natural landscape of the Allgäu Alps with up to 2,600m high peaks. In summer, 200 km of hiking trails and activities include golf, hiking, mountain biking, hot air ballooning, rock climbing, rafting or paragliding. In winter the ski paradise Oberstdorf / Kleinwalsertal offers unlimited skiing on 120 km of pistes of all difficulty levels and 7.5 km of the longest snow-covered valley run in Germany on the Nebelhorn. 75 km of groomed trails (55 km of which are skating) lead you through quiet valleys, high-altitude trails or in the footsteps of the world champions on the challenging tracks of the Nordic World Ski Championships.
